3 Chrome Plugins To Accelerate Your Talent Sourcing

3 Chrome Plugins To Accelerate Your Talent Sourcing Despite the advancement of technology with the invasion of AI, machine learning, predictive analytics, hiring is still pretty much a painful process for many. You start off confidently with a vacancy handed down from your hiring managers, thinking it would be a walk in the park. A job ad goes here, a social post there and voila! The candidate starts tomorrow! No, that’s me dreaming. The reality is you get all the people you won’t want to hire from your job ad and you are only hearing crickets from your social post. What about LinkedIn? You do have a Recruiter account, right? Guess what, so do the thousands of internal and agency recruiters you are vying attention with. They probably have more user accounts than you too. And that marks the start of the frustrating journey that keeps getting restarted every month or so because you are going around in circles. 3x Your Talent Sourcing To win a race where everyone is driving the same car, you need to have some secrets under the hood. Here are 3 turbo boosts in the form of Chrome plugins that will help to improve your talent sourcing: 1. Hiretual Hiretual is your recruiting assistant powered by Big Data and Cognitive Computing. It helps you easily piece together complicated and far more accurate Boolean search strings based on an input as little as a job title. This provides a far more accurate long list of candidates to start the review process. Want something even more targeted? Feed it with your entire job description and it would convert that into a Boolean search string that returns the candidates that you are looking for. 2. Dux-Soup Acting as your virtual assistant, Dux-Soup does quite a few things to make your sourcing easier and quicker. It keeps track of every single profile you visit and allows you to make notes directly on the profile page which are saved. Profile date and notes can be export as a .CSV file to be opened in Microsoft Excel or similar. The .CSV file includes data such as the name of the person whose profile you visited, job title, company name, location, email and notes. You can take and save notes on each profile such as: have sent invite / need to reply to a message / likes Opera etc etc. Dux-Soup can save you hours of manual data entry when it comes to tracking all your leads you interact with on LinkedIn. 3. AutoPilot Connecting with new profiles on LinkedIn usually yield no responses. And it shouldn’t surprise many because accepting connection on LinkedIN is really painful. For users who seldom log in, you will be seeing like 100+ connection requests waiting for you. And LinkedIn doesn’t allow you to do an Accept All. So you either waste 30 mins of your time doing 100+ clicks or you don’t at all. AutoPilot automates the visit of profiles in a sequential manner like a human would. This prevents any LinkedIn penalty. You may wonder what for. When you get a visit, you actually see a notification on your flag icon. Because it isn’t so cluttered like your connection request icons, people tend to go into it. Coupled with an interesting headline in your profile (e.g. Looking for amazing CFO candidate for Fortune 50 client), you are going to get a visit back. So instead of you connecting with them, interested candidate can connect with you instead. This not only saves you time but also wasted efforts in speaking with candidates that just might not be so keen in the first place. Conclusion So stop thinking time is the only thing you have the upper hand in. There are many hacks out there to make your sourcing work easier and faster. Give them a try and start outracing your competition.

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Friends on the Job

On the Job by Anita Bruzzese Friends on the Job In the early days of my career, I was very good friends with many of the people at work. Im not sure if this was because we were young, single and in the pressure-cooker environment of a busy newsroom, but we all seemed to be pretty tight.Wed often play cards after work until the wee hours of the morning, we haunted pubs and pool halls on the weekends, or looked for other low-cost ways to entertain ourselves when not at work (we were also all incredibly poor). And when we all moved into various new positions elsewhere, it was wrenching. We tried to stay in contact, but jobs in different places kept us apart.Later in my career, once I was married, I was friendly with people at work, but never spent time with them outside the office. In fact, my boss asked me why I didnt sort of hang around with others after work and seemed in such a rush to get home (I cant imagine why this was any of his business). But I answered honestly: Ive had the kind of life where my personal and professional li fe were blurred, but at this point its important to me to really work on my private life in private.Still, I look back with great fondness on those early days when my best buddies and I competed good-naturedly for stories and talked during the day about what we would be doing that night. It sort of made work, well, less like work. And it certainly cut down on an anxiety about back-biting co-workers, because we were friends and we just didnt function that way.I have been reminiscing more about those days since I interviewed a Florida State University professor who co-authored a study about different on-the-job components. One of those was the fact that having a socially supportive workplace is related to greater job satisfaction, lower feelings of exhaustion and reduced turnover. The study was based on an analysis of 40 years of earlier research and some 220,000 workers, and pretty much supports the anecdotes Ive been hearing. For example, recruiters tell me that when they try and attr act college candidates, they often hire the candidate and a couple of qualified friends. Recruiters say that they understand that its often very important to younger workers to have a friendly atmosphere at work, and are more satisfied and less willing to jump ship if they work with buddies.Of course, the Gallup Organization came out with similar findings about the importance of having good friends at work, which Tom Rath wrote about in the best-selling Vital Friends. So, how about you? Are having friends on the job important? Or, is being just friendly good enough? Are there any downsides to having friends on the job? Id like to hear your thoughts.

3 Off The Radar Holiday Destinations

3 Off The Radar Holiday Destinations Ive heard the cliche its a small world as many times as you have. When I look around at all the places I havent been, Im not so sure I agree! Theres more to see and experience out there than anyone can do in a lifetime! With so many choices, if youre planning a getaway why not consider those that arent on the travel channel multiple times per year? Ive found three that are pretty amazing and probably not places youve heard of. Tenerife Tenerife is the largest of the Canary Islands, and was mostly undeveloped prior to 1970. While its become a popular holiday destination, its not one that your average travel agent will usually suggest. But with stunning resorts like Playa las Americas and Los Cristianos, inspiring geology and geography, and great weather, its a natural to be high on the list of possible perfect vacation spots. From a pine-forested national park to spectacular beaches, from shopping to whale watching to sprawling golf courses, theres something for everyone on this island you may never want to return home from. Costa Brava Costa Brava translates to wild coast, and theres seemingly no end to remote coves and beaches. This fantasy land of Spanish coastline isnt just beaches, however. It features nightlife and the best of a wide range of musical styles, theatre and dance and attracts world-class acts. For the more adventuresome, its adjacent to Massif Montenegre National Park. The haven for hiking spans a large area along the coast, running behind the resorts and beaches. Achladies Really want to get away from it all? Consider Archladies, Greece. There are tranquil relaxing beaches, and still theyre just a short distance from quaint Greek villages. While not a hotbed of partying, those who visit here almost always come back again to escape from the fast-moving world we live in. Just imagine yourself under the palm fronds on that serene beach!

Communicate Your Way to Success CareerMetis.com

Communicate Your Way to Success â€" CareerMetis.com David was talented, intelligent, and determined. His peers considered him to be “the smartest guy in the room.” He had an outstanding college G.P.A. and near-perfect GMAT scores. His professors told him success would be guaranteed, the ideal pedigree for a swift and prosperous career. After completing an MBA, he joined a leading high tech firm in New York. As a project manager for this pioneering and innovative software developer, he was well organized, worked hard, and managed time effectively.evalAs the firm’s 50th employee in a fast-paced culture, he was driven and competitive. Thrilled to be working in an environment that encouraged everyone to do “whatever it takes,” who could ask for anything more? With strong sales momentum, the firm experienced double digit growth and added 400 people in the last three years. On the strength of his technical competence, David was well positioned to assume a leadership role.Given the firm’s desire for scale and process efficiencies, he was finally promoted and in charge of 30 newly hired web developers. What he was expected to do as the 50th employee with no direct reports, was strikingly different his new job description. His employer and employees counted on him to provide direction, motivation, and clear and concise communication. THE SKILLS THAT GOT HIM HERE, WERE NOT THE SKILLS THAT WILL GET HIM THERE.evalThis cautionary tale is unfortunately the rule more than the exception. With an educational system, heavily focused on technical competence, most career climbers are caught unaware of the importance of communication skills to their professional growth.Corporate professional development programs also come up short as communication skill training is often an afterthought.evalAfter 25 years of leading organizations, the conclusion about career climbing is obvious: No matter what your job…Despite evolving management theories, differing corporate cultures, and various product lines, there is one common thread that weaves its way through today’s economy: the top jobs go to the most compelling communicators. By committing to augment your hard skills with professional development focused on communication, you’ve taken the first step on the journey to your career summit.evalDavid’s story is typical. However , after taking stock of his skill set, David didn’t give up. Kids today - they get it - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog

Kids today - they get it - The Chief Happiness Officer Blog A commenter on my friend Bjarnes blog tells this story: Not long ago my youngest son told me Ill do anything for money! OK, I said Ill give you 20 kroner ($4) to pick up the dog poo in the garden. Yuck!! the kid said, theres no way Im taking a sh*t job like that! Kids today theres no way theyll grow up and work jobs that dont make them happy. Thats why companies today need to shape up and become great workplaces or theyll only ever be able to hire old, crotchety types who accept the idea of spending their days in unpleasant or just mediocre workplaces. Im telling ya the future belongs to the happy! In assorted news, Im in the Danish media these days. I posted a link to this story at the fine Truthteller blog about a company that hired a happiness manager, and was interviewed for a couple of articles AND live on national radio. Cool :o) Article, article. The radio interview is not available on line yet, Ill post a link later. Also, Im still here Ive just found myself very busy this week.
